CCBA ONLINE EVENT: Stakeholder Orientation

January 15 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Join us on Tuesday January 15th for a free community online event as we reconnect together for a dynamic conversation about Stakeholder Orientation.

Pioneering naturalist John Muir observed that “when you tug at a single thing in nature, you find it attached to the rest of the world.” Such is the case with business, which is an intricate and interconnected web of relationships.

Unlike some businesses that believe they only exist to maximize return on investment for their shareholders, Conscious Businesses focus on their whole business ecosystem, creating and optimizing value for all of their stakeholders, understanding that strong and engaged stakeholders lead to a healthy, sustainable, resilient business.

They recognize that, without employees, customers, suppliers, funders, supportive communities and a life-sustaining ecosystem, there is no business. Conscious Business is a win-win-win proposition, which includes a healthy return to shareholders.

This evening we are grateful to host the brilliant servant leader Chris Willis, Vice President of the Talent Group and Chief Legal Officer at Interstate Batteries, a $1.5 billion international business which controls the largest market share of replacement brand batteries in North America.

Last year alone, Dallas-based Interstate sold 17.5 million batteries and recycled another 25 million, with a proliferation of battery offerings, now ranging from hearing aids and laptops to bulldozers and power tools. For five years running, Interstate has been named a Dallas “Best Place to Work” with a culture that is firmly grounded in a Team Member-first mindset and a healthy dose of Fun.

Chris joined Interstate in 2005, where he’s since served as director of legal affairs, director of human resources and general counsel. He oversees all enterprise legal matters, human resources, company culture and internal communications.

Chris also harbors a passion for enriching the lives of others, and his devotion to team member growth and development has helped shape the careers of hundreds of people at Interstate.  His eighth value* is relationships, with God, family and others. In 2008, he worked to create the President’s Intensive Leadership Orientation Team (PILOT), which serves to assist in the growth and development of the company’s emerging leaders. Since then, he’s remained focused on mentoring, leadership development and values training; working to ensure opportunities for growth and development are available to all who wish to pursue them.

Naturally, his servant’s heart reaches beyond the workplace, too. Chris lends his volunteer time to Family Legacy, the Salesmanship Club of Dallas’ Momentous Institute and Highland Park United Methodist Church.
